Sunshine + Exercise = Found Things

Today marks the first sunny 65 degree day of the year so I decided to come out of my hibernation cave to get some much needed sunshine and exercise.

I love going for walks, although around our house I always feel like its pointless – there’s not a lot to see. Usually our road is too dangerous to even consider walking on because of all the traffic, but thankfully our road is still closed to through traffic for winter.

Another thing to be thankful for: We do have a dog, which makes taking walks 100000% more fun than taking a walk without a dog.

I started with three laps around our house, just staying in the yard.

The second lap around, I found a nice shiny white pebble, and my husband found a green golf ball.

We also found three pine cones in the yard, which is ironic because my daughter needed pinecones last week for a school project and there were NONE to be found.

Bored with walking laps around the house {our yard is not that big!} I decided to be a little more adventurous and go down the road. I’m glad I did, because I found a few more cool things.

The first thing I found is some sort of piece of metal hardware. It was laying in the middle of the road, sure to probably give someone a flat tire eventually so I picked that up. Then I found a dime. A rusty dime that’s only worth 10 cents, but still! A dime is a dime. 🙂

found on my walk

Lastly I found what I’m guessing was part of a broom – it looks like pink nylon bristols of some sorts. I think I will put it in my journals…just something sort of interesting I found.

I’ve been making a more concentrated effort the past few weeks to create more in my journals and really trying hard to build up my Artjournalist YouTube channel. I’m documenting myself making most of my journal pages in a new series called “Journal With Me“.

Anyways, we found some pretty neat things on our walk today. Like I wrote previously in my post about blogs about finding things, I love discovering random stuff out of nowhere.

Most of all during my walk sadly is I found out just how out of shape I am after this winter + being back on Depakote for about a year now. My whole back hurt before we even got to the end of the road. We weren’t even walking all that fast. I used to be so in shape!

Anyways, I’m on a quest to keep getting some sunshine and exercise if it kills me. It’s a hard habit to get into, but I’ve done it before and I’m determined to get back in shape…summer is coming!

The rest of this week is supposed to be nice so I’m hoping to go for more walks. I might even get to the park by our house, it’s good to get a change of scenery.
