Happy Flower Day!
I’m celebrating Flower Day today. I’ve been celebrating it now for awhile every second Sunday of May, but this is the first time I’ve ever really written about the tradition.
To celebrate, all you need is a flower. 1 flower. You can have more flowers if you like though, don't let me stop you!
Now, give that flower to someone you care about. Tell them you love them. Expect no flowers in return.
Repeat as necessary for as many people as you’d like.
You don’t need roses or elaborate bouquets or spend any money. Dandelions are great. They grow everywhere, and no one gets mad if you pick them. They are just as pretty as all the other flowers, and more always come back.
If you are missing someone today, plant a flower in your yard. Or grow one in a pot on your window sill or balcony, if you live in an apartment. Let their life and the things you miss about them the most inspire beauty all around you.
Most importantly, take the pressure off of moms for Mother's Day. It's not worth it!
